I think I live in a historic district in Highland Park (I live on Moss Street, west of Woodward). But I don’t live in Detroit, so I can’t take advantage of the 0 percent home repair loan. I also bought my house just one year ago and don’t have enough equity in it to leverage that. What are my options in terms of getting low interest or no interest financing, or grants for major home repair projects?
I am in almost the exact same boat over on Moss too! It is tough navigating all these restrictions when you just want to fix up your place. I ended up looking into a few smaller grants and even came across this site that helped me Create nursing concept map stuff for school, but they actually pointed me toward some community resources too: https://nursingassignmenthelpers.co.uk/concept-mapping. Might be worth a look if you’re juggling school and house repairs like me.

Hi Laura,
There are a few different options laid out in this guide related to home repair help, some are available to Highland Park residents, most are income limited: https://brickandbeamdetroit.com/resources/detroit-home-repair-resource-guide
Please let us know if any end up being helpful to you!
Unfortunately, for private homes, no interest financing and grants are pretty limited, even for historic properties!
