Mastering Masonry

Do you live in or own a brick home or building? Are you a local handyman, contractor, architect, or preservationist? Do you want to get hands-on experience with mortar, brick and stone repair, and more? 

Then join Brick + Beam Detroit & Henry Frerk Sons for a hands-on masonry repair and repointing class on Saturday, April 22nd. We'll have TWO class options -- 10a-12p or 2p-4p -- so you can pick which time works best for you! You can expect to learn:

• Common problems with historic masonry structures and their causes
• How to make proper repairs and prevent future damage
• Historic lime mortar repointing, cleaning and stripping masonry, mechanical anchors, and stone patching. 

The class will be a combination of lecture, live demonstration (including lime slaking), and hands-on doing!

Henry Frerk Sons is a sixth generation family-owned masonry repair and restoration firm out of Chicago. We're excited to be able to share their expertise with Detroit homeowners, rehabbers, and professionals.  

Come ready to get dirty and please wear closed-toed shoes! We'll provide snacks and refreshments. The classes will be held at a very cool old bank on Grand River and Warren!
